Brandywine Shoal Lighthouse
Brandywine is located at the southernmost part of the Delaware Bay - N.W. of Cape May Point, NJ. This beautiful conical structure, established October 20, 1914, was built on a caisson of reinforced concrete. Today, it is still a very important aid to navigation and was the last lighthouse in the Delaware Bay to have a keeper on board! In 1974 it became fully automated.
During the 1980's, Brandywine Shoal and nearby Brown Shoal were fishing hotspots for the huge weakfish, (tiderunners), that visited this area each spring.
