Barnegat Lighthouse
Known as "Old Barney", it's the second tallest lighthouse in the United States. The light, which flashed every ten seconds at each compast point, was 165 feet above sea level. Located on the northern tip of Long Beach Island, it's the centerpiece of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park in the town of Barnget, NJ. Construction was completed in 1858 and it was commissioned January 1, 1859. Today it's light is no longer functioning, but with the tower flood-lit at night, it continues to attract thousands of tourists every summer.
